Antonello Hall at MacPhail Center for Music, with the beautiful gold floor of its stage and the expansive window that opens up to the Mill District behind the performers, is one of my favorite places to see music in the Twin Cities. A highlight on this recital were the expressive (and decidedly athletic) performances of Mike Alexander (horn) and Miryana Moteva (piano) on the contemplative first movement of Margaret Brouwer’s “Sonata for Horn and Piano.”
